Brocklebank Cottage
A beautiful self catering cottage in the heart of Hay-on-Wye
Standing alongside the glorious river Wye and nestling beneath the Black Mountains, Hay-on-Wye retains all the charm of a late Georgian, early Victorian market town.
The town is now famous for being the 'Second Hand Book Capital of the World' and is full of bookstores and hosts the internationally recognised literature festival that attracts well over half a million visitors each year.
Hay's association with books started when Richard Booth, an Oxford graduate, opened his first bookshop in 1961 and pursued his dream that
a town full of bookshops could be an international attraction. Not averse to the odd stunt on the way - in 1977 he declared independence for Hay-on-Wye, crowned himself as King and made his horse prime minister.
Aside from the many book and other boutique shops there are many local attractions ranging from- cycling, canoeing, walking, horseriding, climbing, swimming, camping, fishing or just simply relaxing in some of the most beautiful landscape the British Isles has to offer.
Brocklebank Cottage is located on one of the prettiest roads in the heart of this enchanting town. It is over 200 years old and retains many of its original features such as its oak beams. It is close to all amenities, including local grocers, bookshops, pubs and the Butter Market.
The centrally heated cottage has two double bedrooms one containing a zip lock bed, so it can be used as either double or twin room, and the other a double bed. The living room has a comfortable sofa and two arm chairs, log burner, colour TV, DVD player and IPOD compatible music system, there are also a range of board games available. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped with fridge, oven and hob. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
